A Historic Night, A Good Night!

The roll call is my favorite part of a conevention and this was great!
Govenor Jon Corzine from my neighbor state of New Jersey got the delegates rocking!

Hill with the New York delegation. This was my favorite part when she stop to roll call to make the nomination official.
Bill still got it!

Biden's son gave a great intro and Biden gave a wonderful acceptance speach. His story about his mom was fantastic.

A surprise visit! All though MSNBC spoiled the surprise.

Wedding Card

I decided to make a wedding card for my cousin with the pictures I took this past weekend. I've actually never did this before since I really like picking cards out at the store. I'll spend so much time reading them I sometimes don't realize that an hour has gone by. I'm into the ones that play the music, such a great idea!

I used my handy-dandy bone folder! I love this thing!!!

Mark & Saori

I'm the oldest grandchild on my mother's side. There are 6 of us, plus 3 great-grand kids. All are girls except for my cousin Mark. I was 11 years old when he was born, since we are a close knit family I spent a lot of time with Mark as he grew up. When he got older he became fasinated with Japan. He majored in Japanese, he study over in Japan and ended up teaching English to middle school aged kids in Japan. He met and fell in love with a great girl named Saori. So when my aunt told me Mark was getting married I was thrilled and when she asked for help I was more than excited.

It was a very low key small wedding and 50-60 people. I did the centerpieces that incorporated the table numbers and a decoration.
I used contact paper to cut out the numbers and then frosted all the vases with glass frosting spray.

Saori and her dad.

Saori wanted really simple flowers, so we did 2 small vases with daisys on each table with the
centerpieces. The tables were oval, it was really cool.
Lanterns over the bridal table.

Saori made origami cranes for every place setting. She used different pattern paper for each!

After Mark and Saori got to the U.S. they took rumba lessons to be there first dance.
Very cute.

Shortcakes!

I had a house full of guest this weekend for lunch. I decided on mixed berry shortcakes for dessert. I used Martha Stewart's recipe from "Everyday Food".
I love shortcakes, they just feel like summer!

Guest room

I recently hung these series of bird prints in the guest room. I got the prints from a calender and the frames from Michael's when they had them for 50% off! The entire project cost no more than a $100.00.
I saw the calender in a issue of Real Simple the end of last year. I just love the vintage look and it gives the room a pop of color.

Finished Product

Blueberry Jam

I spent my Sunday making jam. My father in-law gave me 5+lbs of blueberries. He wasn't able to use them all. I've never made jam before so this was a learning process. It was a lot easier then I thought, messy but easy.
I used 10 cups of blueberries, 4.5 cups of sugar( I reduced from 7 cups), 1/4 cup of lemon juice, 1/2 cup of water, and 1 & 1/3 packets of pectin.
I did have about 6 cups left which I then froze. I washed and placed them in single layer on cookie sheets. This way I wouldn't have clumps and it so much easier to measure when I need blueberries.
